How HWY Blogs Works

Identify Blog Parts

Now that we have setup our blog, posted a blog article, and worked with images, it is time to go over the basic parts of our blog.

You will find that most blogs contain several of the same features and functions.

1. Create Your Free Blog
2. Activate Your Blog
3. Blog Name and Description
4. Blog Settings
5. My Profile
6. Write/Edit A Blog
7. My Photo Gallery
8. Working With Images
9. Identify Blog Parts
10. Getting More Help

1) Blog Header - This area normally contains the name of the blog along with a short description.

2) Blog Calendar - You will find that most blogs have a calendar in order to browse blogs by a certain date.  Scrolling through the months on the calendar will show blog articles posted during that specific month.  If you choose a certain day of the month, only blogs posted on that day will be listed.

3) Blog Archive - Another common feature within blogs is the blog archive.  Acting similar to the blog calendar, this function allows a visitor to quickly jump to a month or year in the past, and view blog articles posted at that time.

4) Blog Search - The search function allows visitors to search your blog articles for a specific term or search phrase.

5) Article Categories - If you have created personal categories to group your blog articles, they will be displayed here.  By placing your blogs in categories allows your visitors an easy way to view articles that may interest them.

6) Recent Articles - This is a list of your most recent blog postings.

7) Favorite Links - The links displayed here can be other blog web sites you visit, or just web sites you like in general.

8) RSS Feed - HWY Blogs offers rss feeds on its blogs.  This allows the sharing of content between web sites, and provides an easy way for visitors to receive your articles automatically using an rss feed reader.

9) Blog Article Title - This is the title of your blog article, normally a catchy headline like you would find on the front page of a newspaper.

10) Blog Content - The heart and soul of your blog, the words you write to keep your visitors interested, astounded, and wanting more!

11) Permalink - This is a link that takes visitors to the article's individual page.  If summaries are used, the full article will be found be clicking on this link or the blog article title.

12) Comments - Visitors to your blog can post comments about your articles.  This is the link that will take visitors to your comments section allowing them to view comments and add a comment of their own.

13) Send Article - Each article has its own "Send Article" function, allowing visitors to send an article's link to someone else.

14) Improper Blog - Each blog post has an "Improper Article" function allowing the administrators of the site to be notified if an article is inappropriate.
