First I wanted to answer a question that Kevin asked on one of my posts. Kevin Asks:
I'm a city boy, as I've said worked in an office all my life. I know where the gas goes in my pickup...other than that I know nothing about engines. Could someone like me make it as a truck driver?
Kevin, you need to know a few things, but they will teach you about those things in school. There are inspections you have to make daily on the truck. For the most part, all the service and repairs are made by qualified technicians. You don't have to touch a thing. Hope this helps.
Now, about home time, my DM stayed true to his word and got me a swap on Tuesday. I made the swap and am now heading towards Cali where the load delivers not far from my house on Friday. Yahoo!! I will be back in the truck on the following Tuesday. I will only be out for a short time as my wife has to have minor surgery on the 8th. I made it very clear that I would need to be home on the 7th of Sep. I will be there for my wife with or without a job; she means more then any job.
Interesting thing came up. I got a letter from the DMV in Cali. stating that I needed to come in and re-test for my CDL. I talked to some other guys from school and they all got the same letter. Later I found out that there are 168 of us so far that have been re-called to take our driving test. This really ticks me off for two reasons: 1. I paid good money for a license that is no good, and 2. Now I have to take time off to go down to the DMV and take the test.
Honestly, there were a few people that I wondered how they would ever make it as they should never have been given a CDL in the first place. I guess this is just the DMV's way of weeding out the flunkies. I'm not sweating it though, I know what I am capable of and I will pass again with no problem. Anyway, gotta go throw my laundry in the dryer.
