Freedom of speech..I laugh!..
I teach my daughter to shoot..Wow! I live in California and I teach my daughter to shoot..WHY? Because I was raised in the Southern gun culture and my father was born and raised in the backwoods of Tennessee..I had a BB gun since I was old enough to hold one..Everyone thinks that California is Beaches and Hollywood Stars but it's much more than that..I live in the part that produces the vegetables and milk that America depends on..I had to keep my mouth shut on where I was from on the road because of peoples preconcieved notions of California..I get audited not once but twice from the tax collectors..When I spoke out about the Federal Reserve..Freedom of Speech..I laugh..There is no such thing..I used to think my punk rock hero Jello Biafra was absolutely nuts..I don't think that way anymore..Just try it and see if you get a letter in the mail saying you owe back taxes..The older I get the more I realize that this "Freedom" we have is an absolute sham..Its the illusion that matters..I think people should realize that everytime someone speaks out someone gets pounded down..Like the Japanese Proverb.."The nail that sticks out gets pounded down"..I am the nail..I will get pounded down..I gaurantee it..I expect another letter in the mail the next week..VM-out!

I guess only some things improve with age like fine wine or wisdom while others just turn sour..The older I get the less patience I have with people..You know I like to help my fellow drivers but I have since realized that out of most of them would put a dagger in your back in a heartbeat..I really feel disturbed by that because I really like helping people out, TO A POINT..The older I get the more I realize that you can count your friends on less than one hand..I really feel sick saying that..Its a lonely existence..But thats a fact..When you have been burned over and over it just causes a callous to most people and hardens your soul..Inside the yard I do not have "friends" I have only co-workers..Save one my mentor..Other than that they'd all put a dagger in my back when it came to personal responsibility on their part..Yet again, it pains me to think what a sick existence that is but its true..Maybe I'm getting too bitter for my job..VM-out!

I am going to teach my daughters to shoot a gun..WOW, how politically incorrect, especially for a Californian..My eldest daughter is 7 now and when I was that age I had a BB-gun..I never once thought of shooting my classmates or anyone else for that matter..I had a healthy respect for firearms since I was young enough to pick one up..My daughter is actually exicted about it and I am proud to teach my kids how to shoot..I have three firearms 2 of which are "Grandfathered" under the law..Hint, Hint..EWE, they look scary..I had to get fingerprinted for one of them to be legal..Even though I bought them legally..I don't have a son but, I will teach my daughters to shoot and have a healthy respect for firearms..I can't help it its in my blood..My eldest is actually excited about learning how to shoot which is wierd because she is the most prissy out of my two daughters..Kids are funny and their little personalities can surprise you..Who knows?..Maybe in the future it can save their life..I guess at age 32 I am a throwback..But, I am damn proud of being a throwback..To hell with generation Y..Worthless most of them..I am going to teach my kids right..VM-out!

Time to vent, everytime I go visit my mother she asks me "Why don't you apply to such and such job?" It really irritates the hell out of me..I don't think she is aware that I make pretty damn good money..Am I getting rich? Hell No! But am I making a little headway YES!..I really get upset about it because she knows how to get under my skin unintentionally..I tell her "I got diesel in my veins and once its in its hard to get out"..See I never really found my nitch until trucking..I've done it all..Worked in a factory, worked at a wherehouse, done construction, literally dug ditches, worked at McDonald's, delivered pizza, played in rock bands, but I've never felt more at "home" than when driving a truck..I think I feel irritated because she can't brag to her friends that I have a son thats a truck driver..Me thinks she thinks its not glamorous enough..You know it wouldn't really bother me if this was just Joe Blow..But its my own Mother..I've got 15 drivers I have to manage everynight..Can you imagine how hard that is?..Every driver is different and have their quirks..To be successful in what I do you have to be aware of their likes and dislikes and use them to your advantage..I make a schedule and no sooner than later I throw it out the window when a truck breaks down or a driver gets sick..I spent three hours today picking up a truck just so I had a truck so a driver could drive it..Does he know about all the bullshit I went through just so he could drive it? NO!..I had to borrow another trailer from another division and that took some work..I had to call the other dispatcher, make arrangements to pick it up, found out it still had product left, I pumped it off only to find a hydraulic leak and used my spill kit, drove it back to our shop to get a new fitting, got that repaired, reported the spill to my boss and theirs, and drove it back to our yard just so a driver could work his shift..All the while I get 10 different Nextel calls about the schedule and scheduling..Like "Hey, am I working tommorow?" or "This formula has changed for this product re-arrange the schedule"..God, it'd be a vacation just to turn off my phone and be a driver..I kid you not..All this work just so you can go to the grocery store and buy whatever you want..I don't think people appreciate convienience until its gone..You shop right? Well it came off a truck from someone who drove it..Imagine that going to a store and finding only pickled pigs feet because thats all thats left because drivers went on strike..So they pay me decent, but I earn every nickel on days like this..VM-out!
