Well here goes nothing.
Like another blog I had read, I too saw this article and thought ,"why not?".
There are many things that could be put down here to start out. For starters I have been out here for close to 30 years. In that time I have learned that there is a very vocal obnoxious element in the trucking industry. Whether it is over modulated radios or plain old rudeness to all we all know about the bad things out there.
We are in a new hard time these days. It used to be we never thought that fuel would ever reach $1.00 per gallon. Well that only dates us if we remember that. With fuel at $3.00 and rising it is time to be a lot more conservative in our driving. Seventy five miles per hour is completely uncalled for anymore. Drive 6 and log like you drove 72 and no more high fuel bills and no more bitching about the 10 hours off at night.
and really if you want to be a train engineer, go to the railroads for a job. I for one am sick and tired of being awakened at night by some moron blowing his friggin train horn in a truckstop at 2AM. Must be compensating for a lack elsewhere in life.
If we all acted responsible maybe the public would start to respect us again. Move over when you see a car on the side of the road, don't try to blow them away. After all, the freight on your truck is going to be consumed by a person or persons who may not be truck drivers. In other words the four wheelers are our cutomers. Treat them with respect. I am tired of explaining to my parents why there is a truck up their ass on the Interstate.
Well enough for now, drive safe and drop drop a few miles per hour and sooner or later the oil companies will want to know why the trucking industry isn't buying so much fuel.
First time out
