Mack's AC Model truck introduced in 1915 gave Mack its bulldog identity. It was used during WWI and was known for its toughness. When other trucks would get stuck, the Mack AC would keep rolling. To the British, the truck resembled a bulldog in appearance and in performance. In tough situations the Tommies would yell to bring in the Bulldog.
This pass Sunday I was at the 100th anniversary of Mack's headquarters in Allentown. They had a bulldog contest. See for yourselves the similarity in appearance.

Isn't he a cutie - all 65 lbs of him

See the similarity?

Here's a Mack in a skirt

This past week I was in Las Vegas presenting my research findings to the Truck Bluebook Convention, which is mostly comprised of used truck dealerships and the used truck divisions of truck manufacturers. My research was entitled: Knights of the Road: The Ethics, Good Work, and Cognitive Maps of Over-the-Road truck drivers.
I love being invited to share the good word about truck drivers. For example 72% of drivers strongly believe that their work is very important to society. And this belief carries over into other dimensions of professionalism in their work and personal lives. Another 17% belief that their work is moderately important, and they have other strong ethical beliefs regarding good work.
One of the survey's question asked drivers how many motorists had they assisted in the past two years. 73% of the drivers who responded to this question have given help to 4-wheelers. Of these, the 51-58 age group had the highest mean number of motorists helped, with an average of 7 motorists each. Of the 21-25 age group, all but one truck driver had helped at least one motorist. As you can see, Knights of the Road are still here. And that is why we honor them.
I'm running a contest on the www.expediterworld.com and the truckstopusa.com websites. The winner gets his or her choice of a Knight of the Road cap or backpack. Here's the question:
305 truck drivers helped motorists in the past 2 years. How many motorists (total number) did they help?
Why don't you give your guess. Just get on one of the above websites, go into the forums and scroll down to mine. Register and give your answer. Plus you'll enjoy the rest of the forums. There's a lot of good people on these sites.
