Becoming a truck driver

[Comments] [Send Article] [Improper]

I am doing some research on becoming a truck driver and wanted to blog about it some. I like to travel and trucking as a career seems like an interesting choice. I'm currently checking out some truck driving schools I found here www.truck-driver.net/truck-driving-school.html that look close by. I'm waiting to hear back from a few recruiters to find out how much the schools are and how long the training programs will take. Will update with more info.

Hi. I was just browsing and saw your blog. Roehl offers a driving school and I thought you might like to check us out. The website is GoRoehl.com or to speak directly to recruiting you can call 1888-356-1142. Good Luck with your search! Tahsha*

Be very careful about using places like truckdriver.net. Be sure to read all the fine print before signing anything. It could very likely come back to haunt you. If you quit before a set period of time you will probably end up getting a rather large bill for your training. The training can run into the thousands of dollars. Your best bet is to go through a training program offered by trucking companies. Most of the big companies have some sort of school. For a list of places to check out just go to a truckstop and find some of the magazines that are generally found somewhere near the door to the diesel fuel islands. Schnieder has an excellent program. My best advice would be a company with a terminal fairly close to where you live. Makes it alot easier getting home and having some decent time off. Otherwise you may get home long enough to walk in and kiss the better half and then head out again.
