Back from my first week with my trainer Riley. We hit it off right away. He has been driving for 31 years, 11 with Colonial doing West Coast van division. He has been a trainer for the last 4 years. We headed out Friday at 1300 from Marion, NC. He drove until we were past Atlanta then I drove for about 5 hours through thunderstorms in Alabama and Mississippi. His truck had only 8K miles on it. Governed at 80, leather interior, all aluminum wheels...a sweet machine to drive.
We made it to Fullerton, CA Sunday at noon, dropped our trailer and went to the Claim Jumper for a steak dinner. Afterwards, we watched the Super Bowl in the truck and got a good nights sleep. Monday morning the receiver unloaded us while we went for breakfast. We then went to Temecula, CA (around 60 miles southeast) to pickup a load of medical supplies going to North Carolina. We left at around 1130 Monday and got back to Marion, NC Wednesday at 1200.
I really enjoyed the trip. We head out again Friday evening to do it again.
Good first long road trip

Thanks for posting. Very interesting for someone who has never driven but has always wanted too.
