Dry Van or Flatbed

[Comments] [Send Article] [Improper]

Maybe someone can help me.
I have pulled nothing but Dry Vans. I am considering getting into Flatbed or Stepdeck. I have noticed they pay more. I have been told negative things about FB's. Could somebody that pulls FB or SD what you like or dislike about it and what is the difference between why I would want to do FB opposed to SD.[/quote]

I owned a flat bed for a couple of year I found that I got shot around back on the scales more. I enjoyed it it payed good. Unless the double or eight legger rate hackers get hold of it and cut the rate. Decide to pull cover wagon or not I had acovered wagon but left the side off so I could get lumber loads. Its not a bad deal. If you could try it for a while. Just dont tell any greasy grimmy steel hauler where your load is going. And wear cover hauls when tarpping loads so you dont look like a steel hauler when your done.

I drove for 29 years, most of it reefer, but pulled flat bed some.Depending on what you haul on flat bed,you will have to secure and tarp a lot of loads. That is something I did'nt care for.

Been There Done That IT DOES NOT PAY ENOUGH for all of the tarping strapping chaining and the amount of weight you have to haul to make a load pay decent, unless someone gives you a truck and trailer, and you have no bills.
