As some of you know I've been battling with depression. I'm still seeing the vet every month or two trying to find the right combination of meds to control it. Between blood pressure pills and depression pills I'm taking 8 pills in the morning and three at night. Tomorrow I go to the hospital for a stress test. I had blood work done last week and depending on the results of that I may be taking more meds for cholesteral and diabetes.God I love getting old!!
I'm proof that a lousy diet, very little excercise and smoking for 30 yrs is not a good combination. So far I managed to quit smoking. It doesn't sound like much but it is. When I quit smoking about 9 yrs ago I was smoking as much as 4 packs a day.I woke up one morning and lit that first cigarette and almost coughed up a lung. After only 2 puffs I put it out and haven't touched one since. The only problem is I gained alot of weight. So now it's a battle to changed my eating habits and get more excercise. That is alot easier said than done. It's like trying to tell VM to slow down a little!
My wife is now having to use a cpap machine for sleeping with oxygen hooked up to it. Her oxygen levels drop as much as 85% while she sleeps.
Oh what a wonderful life

Thanx for the support. Alot of the health problems I knew they would be happening. I have been having the same things happening about the time my mother had them happen. I can't taste or smell anything, problems with the teeth, high blood pressure, cellulitis and a real good chance of colon cancer. My grandfather and 2 uncles died from colon cancer and my dad had 95% of his colon removed because of it. I just keep getting everything checked and have learned not to worry about something until it happens.

oh sure, i've smoked and i've drank
not 4 packs a day, tho- my gawd, how did u do that?!! glad u stopped. but i still drink very heavily. and i werk hungover much of the time. but thats my choice. i have a feeling i might need a cpap machine myself cuz i dont sleep worth shit, and maybe drinking might help. i just cant deal with the paperwork, y' know. i'll prolly die in my sleeper, and then i get to meet you wonderful people. seriously- i look forward to meeting you...

I was listening to Bozo on XM and heard about a company called flexsite.com. they sell a diabetes test that lets you test every 90 days. It measures your average glucose levels. The best part is all i had to do was put 2 drops of blood on the form and mail it to them. then called back in for my results. it definitely worried me to hear how many truckers have diabetes. i guess it comes with the job. the other site that i found easier to remember is www.alwaysincontrol.com. it goes to the same place. Thought this might make life a little easier for you by being able to test at home.
