Just trucking along

Sorry I haven't been on here for awhile but it's been a bad few weeks for me. I was involved in a minor accident a few weeks ago and the company decided to fire me. This has been my second accident with them and the first one was the fault of the other vehicle. The other driver admitted to the cops that he was at fault and received a ticket. But they still decided to let me go!!
So now I'm collecting some unemployment from them while I look for a different job and get some work done around the house. I'm giving some serious thought to getting off the road and working local for awhile. There are plenty of places around here that are hiring. So it's just a matter of who I want to work for. I'm also hoping my last employer didn't put anything bad on my DAC.
There is one person in the office that has a real dislike for me and I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to put in a bad report. He doesn't have the authority there to do it, but that hasn't ever stopped him before. I was able to burn him about 10 years ago and he still has it out for me!!
I was trying to get home for the weekend and my driver manager had something set up to get me home. Well this guy had other ideas that wouldn't have gotten me home for at least another 4 or 5 days. I didn't even bother fighting with him and called the main office and talked to the head of dispatch. Needless to say she had no idea that this guy was changing things to benefit his buddies. She put me back on the original plan and he was called into the main office and got one whale of a tongue lashing from the head of dispatch and the owner of the company!! Ever since that time I wasn't on his Christmas list!! In fact he fought long and hard to convince this last company not to hire me. I have a feeling he had a little to do with me being let go.
I'll do what ever it takes to get a load delivered and am willing to cover loads so that a driver can get home. But I expect the favors to be payed back and I'm not afraid to make the necessary calls to collect on them.
Over the years I have had very little problems with driver managers I've had. It seems the problem is generally these people that think they are all knowing and all powerful that cause the problems. They can make life miserable for drivers, DM's, load planners and customer service as well. And all at the same time!
I'll gladly put my driving record up against anybodies because I know I have done a damned good job and I'm not afraid to toot my own horn about it.

Here I sit all alone in my truck.
Nothing in sight for me to f..... Oops!!!! Wrong place for that garbage!!!!!
My mind sank into the gutter for a minute there. Time to wash my mind out with soap I guess!
I haven't been on here for awhile and I had a little time while waiting to get unloaded. I have the joy of driving a corn binder this week. My truck's in getting one of those APU's installed. I like the way this bunk is set up on this truck but dislike most everything else about it. It would probably be a different story if this thing was in good shape. The fifth wheel is slid all the way back and I can't get the thing released to slide it. The power steering is getting bad and I almost have to keep my seat belt on when stopped because this thing shakes so bad when idling. Luckily it's nice out today and can sit with the windows open. I should be back into my truck by the end of the day. I can't wait.
