voting and politics

This is a subject I try to keep to myself but Messianictrucker got me worked up. So here it comes. Time to unload. It's time for all truckers and alot of other Americans to get off there lazy asses and start voting and paying attention to what is going on in this country. Everybody has no problem whining and crying about what's happening but refuse to try doing anything about it. I'm sorry but lots of praying and nothing else won't get anything done.Call capital hill and be heard. Write letters to the crooks that are suppose to represent us. Vote the clowns out of office and let the rest know their days are numbered as well. Drive them people crazy with lots of letters and phone calls. Don't expect the next guy to do it for you.Things are going down hill fast in the USA and it's sliding right into other countries that pays next to nothing for labor and don't have all the unions and special interest groups bothering them. Why pay $25/hr to someone here when they can pay someone $.25/day to do the same job and not have them whine about working conditions? To many of us have gotten to the point of not caring. As long as you get your paycheck and pay your bills your happy with the staus que. It's too late to do something when your job suddenly moves to a foreign country. Don't expect things to improve as long as you don't do your part.
My wife and I are truckdrivers and never miss an election, we call and write our crooks on capital hill and are members of OOIDA even though we are company drivers with no intention of becoming O/O's. OOIDA keeps us informed as to what is going on regarding things that will effect the truckers and what we need to do to either support or defeat things in Washington.

I hate growing up

If I would have known what a pain it is to grow up I wouldn't do it. My body seems to be wearing out already. Bouncing down the road sure doesn't help it any. I have been on the phone this week with my Dr about all these aches and he wanted to put me into the hospital to run a battery of tests. Just what I need this time of year! They decided to have me stop taking one of my blood pressure pills for a week to make sure that isn't the problem. I had just started taking it less than a month ago. This being out of town when this stuff happens gets to be a real hassle. If they do tests on me I'm afraid of what they may find and what will happen after that. My family has a history of cardio problems. From my brother and sisters to my folks on back as far as my great great grandparents it has been a problem. My Mom had 5 bypasses done about 2 yrs ago,has a bunch of stints in and blood pressure problems like you wouldn't believe. My brother that is 2 yrs younger than I am has major blockage and had to have stints put in. So this coming year could prove to be interesting.
Things are probably going to be real hectic for the next couple of weeks. My family is getting together this weekend for Christmas and then we have my wifes side on Christmas Eve. My niece and her daughter live with us and we will be spending part of Christmas Day with them to open gifts and then off to who knows where! So few friends and so much time!!

Doing Fine

I'm glad to report that my wife will have a very Merry Christmas this year. Tests came back fine. Now she has a sleep study done on the 26th of this month. She had a consultation yesterday and they set up the study for her. Sounds like we will both be sleeping with a cpap machine. Will prove to be interesting when we go camping next summer. Try to sleep in a tent with 2 people wearing masks with a hose hooked up to them.
I strongly urge any drivers that are tired during the day even after getting lots of sleep the night before to go talk to your Dr about it. Getting diagnosed with sleep apnia is as easy as a sleep study. You spend one night in the hospital with a bunch of wires hooked up to you. If your breathing stops so many times an hour, they will wake you up and put a mask on you and then let you try to go back to sleep and they adjust the pressure until they feel it is right for your breathing. Then you will go home when you wake up. Once you get the machine you should notice a difference right away. My first few nights on the machine I kept waking up because I wasn't used to wearing it. But even with waking up during the night I still felt a whole lot better during the day. The trucking companies don't worry about it. As long as you pass the DOT physical the sleep disorder doesn't matter to them.
