I think my driver manager is trying to kill me! This new guy is doing a great job at getting miles for me. My miles hasn't been this consistant for a long time. By the end of this month I will have just over 12000 for October. Not too bad for being home every weekend. So far it seems to have been a good move when I agreed to go onto his board. I will be home late tonight and won't leave again until Monday. I generally leave out again on Sunday afternoon, but I need to take a little extra break. Running like this is starting to wear me out. I'm sitting just south of Gary,In at the moment. Waiting until rush hour traffic clears out some in Chicago.
Hey VM your just as much a truck driver as the rest of us. You have to follow the same rules as we do and need to have the same cdl as we do. Just because you don't stay out for days at a time doesn't matter. Just have a wreck with one of your hazmat loads and see how quick the press starts blaming the truck driver for everything even if you were not at fault in any way.

This new dipatcher I have is doing a great job at getting me miles. He's been keeping me right around 3100 miles a week. The only problem is I'm not used to running this hard week after week! The last couple of dispatchers were only getting me about 2500 miles on a good week. If I did get around 3000 miles the next week or two would only be 2000. With this new guy it doesn't matter if I leave out on Sunday or Monday,I will be home sometime Friday with anywhere from 2900 to 3300 miles. That's doing some running considering I don't go over 700 miles out. Generally I drop and hook around home and then live unload and load on the other end. So far I'm on pace for at least 3200 miles this week. I have a chance to relax a little tonite. I picked up in Minneapolis,Mn this afternoon and don't have to be near Detroit until noon tomorrow. Then I imagine I will get a scrap paper load to take up to Menominee,Mi. I will run that straight through(about 450 miles)and then hopefully grab a load to Louisville,Ky for early Friday than another load of scrap out of Seymour,In that I will drop in Green Bay,Wi to finish the week. I will get just enough time at home to reset my hrs and then do it all over again! I have a long weekend coming up at the start of next month so I will have a chance to get rested up and do a little work around the house. I have an appointment with the doctor that Monday. Doctors are keeping a close watch on me. Making sure my meds keep doing thier job. Between blood pressure pills, water pill, vitamins and antideppresants, I'm popping 7 pills a day. 4 in the morning and 3 at night. I call them my happy pills. Without them I'd be out of work because of my blood pressure and possibly 6 ft under because of the deppression. As I wrote in one other blog, without the meds I get suicidal. Beleave me it's not fun. With the way things are going with FMCSA rules, I may be looking for a different line of work before long.

I wish the newbies to Hwyblogs would post something. Don't be afraid to write about whatever comes to mind. I see alot of people sign up but not post anything. I'm sure everyone has read some of the blogs that are on here. I enjoy reading what others have to say and look at some of the pictures of different parts of the country. Once you get started on here it becomes addictive. It's an enjoyable way to spend down time. I'm currently sitting at the TA in Russell,Il waiting until rush hour settles down some. I will take off from here around 1830 and work my way through. Need to be in Louisville,Ky in the morning. In the mean time I'm on here. Just don't do any advertising on here. Some of us get a little upset about that (right VM?!!!).If we want to read ads we'll get a newspaper or magazine to read.
