The risk of making calls on Airplanes

At the first Congressional hearing on this subject in years, members of a House subcommittee uniformly knocked out the proposal to lift the 14-year-old ban on using cell phones in flight. Cell phones on-board were banned in 1991 in USA. The reason was a probable interference of cell phone with the aircraft's communication and navigation systems. It is the opinion of many people that in spite of warnings and earnest requests, many passengers continue to use cell phones during the flights, simply disquieting the peaceful environment in the aircraft. Moreover, the digital cell phones are too risky as these can be used as guns and signaling device for terrorist’s activities.

A deep contemplation on this issue reflects in a comprehensive article published at the following link: http://www.weblobbying.com/Lobbies/default.asp?Lid=332

People should be more alert about the usage of cell phones on flights and may be the article can throw some light on the same perspective.
