1st Year in Trucking

First Blog

Hello all, this is my first blog here, just to get things started, I'm not actually a truck driver yet as I'm still in the Army. I'm stationed in Germany and will be departing here bound for Las Vegas in mid December. Being that I drive trucks and other heavy equipment in the military my transition should be fairly easy into the trucking world. Just learning now the rig's shifting work (military trucks are all automatic) and paperwork not to mention backing up a 53ft'er which we don't use here. Anyways thanks for checking out my blog, I will post again when I get ready to leave here, and then start posting everytime I have something interesting to write about.

First off thank God for you and your military service. We need you to have 3 wives so you can populate the country with more brave souls like you. By your grammar in your blog I can tell you have a good brain in your head and thats what this industry needs. Don't worry about training I can tell already that you have what you need to be a driver. It takes some practice but now I can drive a big rig easier than a car believe it or not. VM-out!

Thank you very much for your warm welcome. It's great to be accepted into a community before I'm even working in it. I'm very proud of my military service, and thank you for your support. I wish I could stay in the military, but with deployments, family strain, and the constant abuse it has put on my body I just can't justify staying in anymore. I can get out, make more money, and believe it or not even driving OTR I'll see my family more than I do now on active duty. -Gunner out

I retired April 2nd after 25 years of service and I was pre-hired by Werner when i started my truck driving school in May. Some fellow students told me about several websites that I could check out Werner and other companies. You are probably already driving for Werner and I can't say anything negative about them myself but you should check out this website: www.ripoffreport.com. I will be bringing my wife from overseas and we just might be moving to Las Vegas too. So, we might pass each other on the highway. Best of luck for a long driving career. E8-Out
