My Mirrors

[Comments] [Send Article] [Improper]

My life was in my mirrors as I left home last time,
Everything I live for, everything that’s mine.
I could see wife was smiling when she waved goodbye,
As she turned to walk away I am sure I saw her sigh.

I saw the sunset in my mirrors, when I hit the road last night,
All 18 wheels are rollin’ I’ll be drivin’ all dang night.
With 40 tons I’m barely legal, I’ve got to be on time.
There’s a factory dependin’ on me not to close their line.

City lights in my mirrors, they’re such a pretty sight,
I beat the rush hour traffic, and less idiots out at night,
I need some coffee and a break, I need to stay alert,
Just one mistake outside the lines and someone’s gonna get hurt..

Bright lights in my mirrors, it’s hard to see the road,
Inconsiderate drivers who just don’t know the code.
They cut me off and hem me in they test my driving skills,
Sometimes it seems they do it only for the thrills.

The loading dock in my mirrors I made it with time to spare,
But now I know the union worker doesn’t really care.
My appointment is set at 4:00 am, not 3:45 you know,
If I ask them to please start early they put their speed on slow.

The sunrise in my mirrors means I am headed home,
I have to wait to call my wife the cell phone is on roam,
I can’t wait to hold her close and tell her of my love,
Life is as it should be and I thank the lord above.
