A Piece Of My World

Here we go!

I guess that now is a great time to start a "truckers" blog. My husband just left today for his OTR training, and will be gone up to 8 weeks from what I have been told. I am already missing him, but we will survive. I am just glad that he was home for Angel's birthday parties. Our little girl just turned 4 years old last Saturday. I still can't believe it!

The company kinda ticked me off today. We were given about an hours notice that he was going to be leaving. We barely had any time to say good bye. I guess that this is just the beginning. Mike just started driving, I guess that was already made obvious with the OTR training, huh?

I have been told that this is a whole new lifestyle, and I guess that it will all come with time and I will get used to it all. In the meantime, I will be busy all week helping my friend with all the last minute wedding planning for her wedding this coming Saturday! Both my daughter and I are in the wedding. This will be exciting.

~*~ Peace out! ~*~

My thoughts and prayers will be with you as your family adjusts to the many changes that the trucking industry will heave upon you. I know several women who have been married to their husband truck drivers for 20, 30, 35 years, and they are still in love with their husbands. Each of these women have a strong sense of self, and they took the time to ride with their husbands to understand the difficulties of life on the road. I believe that the industry needs to change drastically from its conservative and constrictive mindsets towards a 21st century mentality. People value both their families and their jobs, and most industries are finding ways to accommodate both these needs and values. I'm working to effect a change, and your blogs describing your experiences as the wife of a new trucker are very helpful. Please continue them. If there is anyway I can help, please don't hesitate to contact me: truckerdoc@hotmail.com.

Good luck in the comming months and years... It's a hard life, for both of you. Just make sure you have plenty of friends, and family, you can lean on for support. And keep blogging. You'll help the rest of us know we're not in this alone.
