Driving Bio

I began driving in February 1996 with a company called Builders Transport.Remember those ugly green trucks with the thick yellow stripe?Wow!It became evident to me that they were having financial problems when they routed me around North Carolina on a load from Georgia to New Jersey. The bank was repossessing trucks as they rolled into N.C.I was afraid of being stiffed on a paycheck so when I got back to Dallas Tx I searched for and found another job. I found something a little closer to home.I started working with a small LTL company from Wichita Ks.I really enjoyed working for that company,so much so,I stayed with them for 4 years. It was a small family owned and operated company. Most everyone was easy to get along with but as they grew so did the problems.Loafers, goldbricks and drunks. Then they decided to hire a General Manager. What they hired was a jackass!Enough said.I had to go.I find it hard to work for anyone dumber than myself.I also find it hard to be around arrogant people. The next 2 years I found myself living at the truckstops.I'm not sure but I think I was semi-retired.Although I never made that conscience decision,JB Hunt made it for me,I think!?.Huh,what was I saying?Do'nt get me wrong, they are not a bad company to work for.Yes they are.No they're not.Geez!I'm back now!Anyway, one night I'm driving somewhere(who remembers)and I hear Craig Harper(salesmen are all alike)doing one of the JB adds on the trucking radio. He says, why would you haul the same freight from the same dock for less money?Good point. Thanks for the wake up call Craig.Goodbye Craig! Now he's pushing the per deim. The goverment gives us that. You can have it now or you can have it at the end of the year no matter who you work for.How stupid do these companys think we are?Enough,I'm not trying to bash JB Hunt. Two years ago I hired on with the company I am currently employed with.Lets face it,it's a job.A man has to work, right? It is without a doubt the best driving job I have had. They keep me moving, the money is good,I like my dispatcher and the checks always clear the bank(they dont bounce).I think I'll hang around here a while. Daily Rant:Learn how to use your turn signal dummy. It was put there for a reason. It's your job dummy. Signal every intent. You take that paycheck every week dont you? Then do your job.

Its good to hear that you finally found somewhere you can live with. It took me four jobs to do the same. This industry is full of sharks that will promise you the world. If they paid us what they promise why should we leave? They're a bunch of liars who tell half-truths and when you call them on it they are like "Uh, well only if you did this or that!" The devil is in the details and the fine print. I hate these bastards. And then they wonder why there is a driver shortage? Geez, its obvious isn't it? Vaqueromuerto OUT!!!

Reminds me alot of the first company I worked with. I started out with a family business that eventually got into financial trouble. Me and the warehouse guy were the last two people working there. The day I quit, I had gone to hook up to a flatbed and found out one of the gladhands was missing. I had been trying to decide when I should look for another job, and that decided it!
