Well, I am now an unemployed x-truck driver. At least for now. Last Sunday I layed down in Texas for a one hour nap. It was five hours before I could pull myself out of the sleeper. Anyway, I figured that if I did not take the plunge now - I might not live long enough to take the plunge. I AM TRUCKED OUT! Anyway, if you are interested, you can keep up with what I am doing by occasionally visiting my("http://maddadkeith.blogspot.com") "Maddadkeith" blog.
By-the-way, I still plan for one of my photographic specialties to be the transportation industry. Once a trucker - always a trucker: )

This is "High Noon In New Mexico".
Hey VM - thanks for the note about trying for a cement truck. I tried that about 25 years ago. I lasted one day, and got bored out of my mind. But, thanks anyway. What I am now thinking of doing is going for a local "out of the trucks" job". I want more time to work on my photography. Right now I am getting submissions together for Alamy. This is a stock photo agency that a National Geographic photographer suggested to me. Also, I am hooking up with "Digital Railroad" to market my stuff. I think all I have to do to finish that is make a couple of mouse clicks. So, maybe I will finish that tonight. And, I may hook up with PhotoShelter too. But, that may be overkill. It might be better to try them one at a time. And, I am checking out a company called BackPrint to sell my event photos from my (
www.hkbphoto.com)web site. Anyway, I am tired of trying to get this stuff done while living in a truck. In reality, I figure I have had my own roof over my own head about four out of the last twenty-five years. The rest of the time I have spent doing for other people. I think it is time to take care of myself for awhile.

This shot was taken early last spring while traveling north on I-15 up to Cajon Summit.
I will try to become more involved with posting to this blog. But, I have a lot of projects going at this time.
I am still getting e-mails asking if I have found that local job in southern Nevada. Nope! But, I have not had time to look. It seems a little nuts to be looking for a job in Nevada when I am very happy with the one I have. But, this is something that I feel I have to do. So, if anyone knows of someone looking for a (local or regional/short haul) driver in southern Nevada please tell them to call Keith at 405.205.4255. I plan to spend tomorrow searching for possibilities. Also, I may be very interested in finding a roommate to cut down on the cost of living. So, if you have friends, or know of anyone - please let me hear from you. By-the-way, absolutely no druggies or drunks. Very light drinking is ok. I am 58, long past party fever. I want sanity in my life.

The recent rains have brought a lot of color to the meadows west of Flagstaff.
Well, it has been quiet-a-while since I have had the time to post on this blog, or any of my other blogs. I am still very interested in turning my other blogs into commercial enterprises. So, I am trying to hang onto them. But, I am going to have to find some way of to spend a lot more time on them. (You can find my blogs by visiting my web site: www.hkbphoto.com) I am painfully weighing the decision on whether to retire or semi-retire so that I can devote more time to my photography and web site. In the end it will probably be my health that makes the decision for me. I am exhausted and over-weight. My sleep apnea is driving me nuts. I have no energy in my legs. And, quiet frankly, I find it hard to remember where I came from and where I am going to sometimes. And, my family wants me to get off of the road. A simple fact: I'm getting old. Ouch!

The owl photo is part of a collection I have shot on two occasions. He and his mate are living at the truck stop in El Centro, California.

The mallards are from a collection on a travel piece I am working on about the Oklahoma City National Memorial (the 4/19 bombing). These same ducks also spend part of their time around my home terminal about six miles away.

The sunset is part of my "America At 65 mph" collection. I am trying to learn how to make e-books that I can offer from my (www.hkbphoto.com) website.
Even though my income does not quiet justify it I may soon go into semi- retirement so that I can work full time as a freelance travel photojournalist. I am considering this because trucking full time and doing the rest of the things I do is just about to do me in physically. Either that or I am just flat lazy: ).

Well, my Nikon D200 made it to America. The following photo is one of the first photos I took with it the evening (5 days ago) it came in. But, I have been busy with family medical matters, and unable to use it. But, while spending a lot of time in airports and airplanes, I have had time to analyse what I am doing, and the direction I am going. And, I have set some priorities in my business plan, and in my future.
I would like to invite readers of this post to visit my web site (www.hkbphoto.com). However, I hope you will realize that I am just now considering the site good enough to let a few people know that it is there. I will keep making improvements on it. And, I will soon stop placing photographs on it that look as though they they are nothing more than snapshots. I do realize that my photography lacks a polised professional touch. Most great photographs take more time to get that what I have been able to spend. Anyway, it will take some time to implement the changes that I have made in my plans. So, please bare with me.

My camera is in the shop. I have another one on order. Instead of posting photos I am working on getting my web site commercialized. I plan to take vacation in a week or so, and will try to post new photos then.

I received a message from someone a week or so ago asking me if I had found a new job yet. Well, I cannot find the message now, but - no, I have not found a new job yet. The people I work for now keep me so busy : ) I do not have time to look for a new job. But, here is what I am looking for: I want employment that will allow me to move to southern Nevada, or somewhere out there. Reno area would be ok. My reason for this is that I want to retire out there in a few years, and I want to photograph the western United States, and - well I just like the area. I think I would be better off living in a rural area. However, I will live in the city, as I understand that this is where today's money is. After 30+ years alone (for the most part) in the cab of a truck, I am not a sociable animal. But, when I think about this, I wonder if I should find a local job in Las Vegas, and make myself learn to be sociable. Years ago I was quiet good at it. If all of this sounds like I do not know what I want it all comes down to being able to get away from everyone from time to time. This new employment that I am looking for does not have to be in the trucking industry. I learn quick.
