costs

How can an individual survive today with the costs of fuel,maint., taxes, etc. Something has to be done to correct this. The company I'm presently leased to is having it's own problems rewgarding the same issues...the cost of trucking is just completely out of hand and noone,including the bigger companies are immune. Why can't we ALL stand together and simply refuse to deliver America's goods until we can make a go of it ?

All the so called know-it-alls will tell you that is illegal now. All it will actually take is to run legal and just say no to outrageous delivery times. Many drivers claim they can't make a living doing that but are willing to shutdown. Park the truck and make no money at all or run legal and have some money coming in. It's a no brainer that some is better than none at all. We wouldn't be shutting down and breaking the law and these just in time places would get the message loud and clear in a real big hurry. Too many drivers are afraid to tell dispatch no for fear of losing thier jobs. How can they fire you for running legal?? It's a safe bet that there are very few drivers that run completely legal.

Nobody wants to slow down but if you are driving over 65 then you prefer paying OPEC rather than paying yourself. If our industry could increase one mile per gallon out of our rigs than big oil would be crying not us. It might mean less time at the truck stops. We can try together or die together
