Motor OIl and Filter Maintenance

After over 20 years of being a gas turbine controls technician for a major oil company on the North Slope of Alaska, I have grown to appreciate how important it is to provide the best lubrication and filtration for rotating equipment. AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants are the finest available in the United States and for over 33 years have been used by fleet managers as well as individual vehicle owners. When A.J. Amatuzio left the sevice and founded AMSOIL in the mid 1960's, he set out to develop synthetic lubricants for commercial use like those installed by the maintenance crews who worked on the F-4 fighters. Mission critical jet engines had to have the most reliable, predictible, and long lasting oils available and those were very expensive synthetic motor oils. There were none being made for the general public and Mr. Amatuzio thought it was possible to produce and bring to market these superior lubricants.

In 1972, AMSOIL had blended a successful synthetic and received API certification for it. AMSOIL produced the first synthetic motor oil for use by the general public. The company was small and only had two products to sell. The engineers and chemists had done their jobs and it was time to create a sales force so, Mr. Amatuzio decided to market AMSOIL using a Multi Level Marketing structure (MLM) which is still in place today. Instead of the traditional manufacturer>warehouse>jobber>wholesaler>retailer>customer arrangement the MLM route went from the manufacturer to a regional distribution center to the AMSOIL dealer. This is an efficient way to get products to customers and has been used by many of organizations like Avon Cosmetics. AMSOIL is only sold by independent dealers who earn retail profits plus commissions. If you do see AMSOIL products on the shelf of a store, the account is served by an AMSOIL dealer.

Currently, AMSOIL has a product line of synthetic lubricants that covers almost all of the automotive and motor sports world. Industrial and trucking applications are well covered, also. The catalog that was about 16 pages long when I became a dealer is now around 46 pages and grows each year.

I began to use AMSOIL when I bought my first Cummins Dodge back in 1993. It was a big investment for me then and I wanted to keep that truck for 15 years so I bit the bullet and installed AMSOIL diesel motor oil in the crankcase. Since that time, I have used AMSOIL in every engine driven thing that I have owned. I became a dealer in 1996 but was not very active until I semi-retired in 2003.

One thing I really like about being an AMSOIL dealer is that there is no pressure from anyone to do more than you choose. You can work as little or as much as you desire. In this business no one gets paid a cent unless some product is sold. There are no special bonus checks for recruitment of new dealers, either. However, dealers are rewarded for the effort and success that they have and quite a few do very well.

Truckers can benefit from AMSOIL since they can extend the recommended drain interval to 2x the manufacturers interval. Also, with some supplimentary oil filtration OTR trucks have been driven over 400,000 miles without an oil change. Filtration is the key to reducing internal engine wear and if you carefully follow a filter change schedule and perform oil analysis at the right times your AMSOIL will not break down or let you down. I will be happy to talk with you about this routine.

Independent testing labs conducted a study using identical trucks and identical loads to determine if AMSOIL synthetic lubricants in the driveline components would make a difference in fuel mileage. The results showed that if the engine, transmission and differentials were equipped with AMSOIL synthetic lubricants the trucks got 8.2% more mileage. The control trucks were filled with conventional petroleum products. AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants lubricate better, run cooler, and maintain their viscosity over a wider temperature range. They hold up under extreme pressures and last longer.

If you know of any trucker facilities in the Southwest that have conference room facilities for rent on a daily basis I would appreciate hearing from you. My web site: www.canyontraders.com has a feedback page where you can send me a message. I have a 1 hour presentation that explains AMSOIL and its products as well as the business and commission schedules. I plan to give this presentation every 2 hours for a day to truckers, rv owners and other motorists. I think that is plenty of time to learn about these products and decide whether you want to use them or not.

I will show you how your equipment will benefit from the finest synthetic lubricants available.

Great that you sell Amsoil on the side. After several years in the maintenance industry, I can you assure you that if you follow the proper maintenance schedule for your engine, any quality oil is adequate as long as you stay clear of so called additives that replace everything but the fan belts. Oils today have changed to the point that "this is not your father's oldsmobile" and you don't need to go to Jippy Lube every 3,000 miles. Rather, you should follow the schedules based on type of service. After 15 years in the business I've never seen an lubrication failure due to inferior oil. I've seen build up from improper type, mixing brands, and lack of understanding how oils work. Amsoil synthetic is good stuff but is it worth the cost if you change oil every 3,000 miles? Personally, I've never seen any benifit out weigh the extra cost.
