Be extremely careful about signing any contract. If it has something to do with the company that is going to hire you footing the bill for your training and you agreeing to work for them for a certain amount of time, it wouldn't be so bad. Be sure you read every single part of that contract and don't just take the word of someone about the contents. Because once you sign it you are obligated to fullfill all parts of the contract. That could prove to be extremely expensive. If you can afford to pay for the schooling yourself then do it. Then your not obligated to work off the bill and can get paid more per mile then. These companies don't actually pay for the school. They pay you an extremely low rate of pay for the first year or two until the bill is paid off.If you quit before that time, you will be held responcible for the remainder of the bill.I don't want to scare you, just want to make sure you know exactly what you are getting into before you sign anything. I have to agree with Bigfoot on this, read the contract. I wouldn't sign with a company that made you stay for more than a year. This industry is full of companies that try to take advantage of peoples situations. Don't be so desperate that you sign something you'll regret later because a lot of these bigger companies tell you nothing but half-truths to get a body to drive the truck. I would extremely recommend that you get your training through an independent school. That way if it doesn't work out you can tell them to kiss your ass and not owe them nothing. VM-out!!
